With a wealth of experience across numerous roles, Emerson Paul Curley Jr. is a registered nurse with the University Of Maryland Medical Center. Alongside his professional duties, Emerson Curley is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), which advocates on behalf of professionals in the industry. The American Nurses Association, which represents 4 million nurses across the country, has recognized the travel health nursing specialty, which has become an increasingly complex area in the past 30 years. The specialty, which focuses on advancing travelers’ well-being, alongside that of the communities they travel to, draws on the tropical medicine and epidemiology areas, among others. ANA President Ernest Grant, Ph.D., stated that travel health nursing has become an essential service, with the recognition highlighting the importance of nurses on the impact that travelers’ health has. Additionally, Sandy Weinberg, American Travel Health Nurses Association (ATHNA) Interim President, noted that 25,000 nurses focus on the area, adding that ATHNA members are thrilled with the new recognition.
